Painting a Day – March 3 – Encaustic Landscape
Encaustic painting involves heating my pancake griddle and melting a beeswax/damar resin mix. I use oil paints to make the scene/design and then another layer of the wax medium to fuse the layer. Then I repeat this for however many layers I put in a painting. In this case, there are four thin layers.
When the last fuse layer is dry, I polish the painting with a cloth, wire it and it is ready to hang.
This is a 6 inch by 6 inch painting on board with painted edges. It is $15 plus $2 S/H.
